Thirty farmers in Toledo are celebrating their third year of successful farming in Belize’s first agroforestry concession within a protected area. The cultivation of cacao among other crops within the Maya Mountain North Forest Reserve is being guided by an agroforestry management plan and a conservation agreement. Ya’axché Conservation Trust (Ya’axché) is working with farmers to ensure that both the environment and livelihoods are considered in protected area management.

Notice to Citrus Growers: Opening of BFP Factory for 2017-2018 Crop continues
The CPBL hasopened the BFP Factory for the receipt of mature grapefruit and oranges during the period Wednesday, October 18th to Friday, October 20th 2017during the hours of7:00 am to 5:00 pm daily.
The CPBL further advised that the BFP Factory will continue to receive mature grapefruit and oranges from Monday October 23rd to Friday October 27th 2017 between the hours of 7:00 am to 5:00 pm daily.

The University of Belize and the World Wildlife Fun will develop the first ever watershed management plan for Belize. Belize City, September 12, 2017 – The University of Belize through the Natural Resource Management Program from the Faculty of Science and Technology and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), will develop a Management Plan for the Belize River Watershed (BRW). The plan will be the first of its kind in Belize and serves as a model for much needed future watershed management.
